Isn't this interesting? A Republican lawmaker who voted to override Governor Pawlenty's veto of the Transportation Bill is now claiming DFL legislative leaders lied to him in order to secure his vote. According to State Representative Rod Hamilton (R-Windom), DFL leaders said they would raise the priority of a highway project in Hamilton's district. Now, there's been a misunderstanding.
Is the United States today a nation of whiners in need of perspective? No doubt!

Is there any doubt that many of our citizens have lost all perspective distinguishing between needs and wants, or in this case emergencies and inconveniences? And to think that some of these people may be encouraged to vote.

Please direct your questions to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi if you're wondering why the Congress adjourned until September 8th without addressing gas prices. Maybe if there was going to be deliberation about raising gas taxes Democrats would've called for a vote to allow drilling off our country's shores. Everyone with minimal knowledge of economics is familiar with the concept of Supply and Demand. Where there's demand supply will surely follow, especially in a capitalist system such as ours. That's the way it is suppose to work, but our Congress has intervened and is preventing the supply of oil to match the demand. That means higher gas prices at the pump.

Here's another example of gross government interference with private property rights. Some Twin Cities communities are requiring "point of sale inspections" before you can put your home up for sale. Promoters of these ordinances must have missed the language "As Is" in contract language. Maybe some people are selling their homes because they need repairs they can't afford. We need to find government officials who recognize we don't need to regulate everything.
