Sen. Harry Reid isn't up on the anti-bullying campaign that is underway throughout much of the country. Reid is being accused of bullying the largest newspaper in Nevada. Who is making that charge? The newspaper's publisher, Sherman Frederick. Please Nevada, for the good of the country, give Reid the new title "Former Senator."

How interesting. It is being reported that Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean didn't accept Medicaid patients when he was a practicing physician in Vermont (his wife, also a physician, didn't either). Here are the posts. So, Doctor "Do as I say not as I do" Dean, the front man for the DNC that is pushing for a "public option" for medical care, didn't accept those on a government program when he was practicing. Telling.

Just a reminder about something else the President wants. Oh, and if that one bothers you, here's a video of a police officer making up laws while he's on duty. The officers' comment, "I can charge you with whatever I want to charge you with" is very disturbing as is his statement at the end when told this is America. The officer says, "It ain't no more, OK?" No, it is not "OK"!

This must have been "April Fools Day." The Drudge Report is reporting that this past spring a bill was introduced in the Senate that would have given President Obama "emergency powers" over the Internet. It must have been a joke. If it wasn't, how did the mainstream media (any media for that matter) miss that one? Still, what is alarming is that I'm not surprised this administration would try something like that.

Here's one Marine's take on the current health care debate. You have to appreciate Marines, especially those who can boil the issues down to their essence.

Anyone seeking clarity on the Second Amendment to the Constitution should hear Ted Nugent's analysis. Warning! Nugent's take may be harsh for gentle ears of many Nannysotans.

President Obama was quoted yesterday as saying, "There is something about August going into September where everybody in Washington gets all wee weed up!" All "wee weed up"? What the heck does that mean? If President Bush or Sarah Palin had said such a thing they would be ridiculed. Do you think the MSM will find Obama's comment cute and downplayed or a gaffe to be highlighted?

There is an editorial in today's Star Tribune from a man by the name of Grant Stevensen. He is a pastor at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in St. Paul. Pastor Matthews' article decries the possibility that the "public option" may be withdrawn from health care legislation that is working through congress. Pastor Matthews' article begins "How sad." On the contrary, most Americans hope that is exactly what happens. What is disturbing about the pastor's article are some of the statements he makes. Using a conversation he had with an International Falls waitress Stevensen says, "She answered immediately with what I think is the quick defensive patriotism we have been taught." Earlier in his article he doesn't seem to recognize what he has been taught: "It has to do with whether or not we can and should act collectively to solve major challenges like health care." We can and should act collectively? That is straight out of the socialist handbook. I know the word "socialist" is touching a nerve with socialists, but we need to call them what they are. If a person thinks like a socialist, acts like a socialist, and promotes socialist policies, forgive us if we view that person as a socialist and someone who is anathema to what has made this country great -- individualism, self-reliance, liberty, and less government not more. There are roles for government, but they should be limited and made effective before it looks to expand. Polls are showing 70-80% of Americans are happy with the health care system we have. We don't want major changes to it. We realize there are things that can be done to make it better, such as getting lawyers out of the system, but the changes should be incremental and in no way should the government decide what we have and how much we have in anything.

There seems to be confusion about whether or not President Obama supports a single-payer healthcare plan. Let's eliminate the confusion. He does. Here's the President and some of his supporters, in their own words, advocating for a single-payer (government/taxpayer) healthcare system. Can supporters for this "single-payer" idea at least have the honesty to admit that this is their ultimate goal? If you still have doubts, read the plan (good luck!) and note as you work through the verbage how many times it (HR 3200) states, "As the Commissioner determines" (11 times), or "Commissioner shall" (59 times), or "Commissioner may" (17 times). Translation: The Commissioner will decide if you get healthcare, what you get, how much you get (if any), and for how long you get it (if any). This legislation is flawed in many ways, but most glaring is the fact it ignores legal reform. Many physicians practice defensive medicine out of fear of being sued if they don't order tests. In order to avoid being second-guessed by lawyers working on contingencies, physicians order tests just to protect themselves. Malpractice insurance costs are skyhigh for physicians and medical service operations and those costs are passed on to healthcare consumers (you). Legal reform is needed as part of any healthcare reform.

It already has been a long August for Congressmen, especially Democratic Congressmen (and women), who have returned to their districts to "get input" from their constituents regarding some of the healthcare reform proposals making their way through congress. Maybe one way to reduce the hostility that is being expressed by most Americans towards some of what is being proposed would be to include a warning label on the legislation -- Something like this:

As long as HR 3200 contains a warning label that should be sufficient in warning the American people, and their representatives, about the potential consequences if this bill passes into law, right?

President Obama has hit the campaign trail again. Today he was in Virginia. His message: Shut up!" Does President Obama sound like a President or a candidate?

People are angry folks, and they should be. Here's the reception one NY Congressman received when he returned to his distrist to hear from the folks back home. This is the response Congressmen are getting throughout the country. Let your Congressman know how you feel, respectfully of course.

Charles Krauthammer has an excellent analysis about what has temporarily stalled the march toward "Obamacare," better known as nationalized healthcare. The culprit: Math! The Congressional Budget Office analyzed the numbers and cameback with three consecutive conclusions that shotdown what the Obama Administration was claiming. As in most cases, three strikes and you're out -- but not in government. Government is allowed as many swings as it takes to score.

Well, well, well! Look what has surfaced, video clips of President Obama over the years and some of his supporters discussing their plans to takeover our healthcare system. They admit that is their goal and that it may take some time, but they will get there. The ending of these clips, as they are linked on Breitbart, shows the President declaring no one is advocating government takeover of healthcare. It is funny after listening to two minutes of him and his allies advocating exactly that.
