Today Rush Limbaugh was the Keynote Speaker at the CPAC Conference in Washington. CPAC is a gathering of the leading conservative voices in the country. If you didn't see him deliver it, here is the transcript of his speech. It was very refreshing to here clear conservative messages that, if we relate them and most importantly if we adopt and implement them, will lead to electoral victories in the years ahead.

The Wall Street Journal has done an analysis of President Obama's "Tax the Rich" tax plan. The WSJ used the assumption that the government would take every taxable dollar from the "rich," those earning more than $250,000 a year. If that happened there still would not be enough money for the federal government to pay for half of what it is spending in this year's budget. We're witnessing a financial fiasco that our country is struggling to manage. Unfortunately, we've sent in the clowns to fling confetti (our money) to the masses.

Ever heard of the Taxpayers Clearning House Prize Patrol? Here are some creative young people who get what's going on and have come up an imaginative way to make their point.

George Orwell would be proud. President Obama held a "Fiscal Sustainability Summit" yesterday. A "Fiscal Sustainability Summit" -- a week after signing a bill that put our government deeper and deeper into debt? It's going to take generations to climb out of the Trillions of dollars in debt that has been accumulated in just the past month. It takes guts to talk about fiscal responsibility after spending a month saying you're going to spend whatever it takes to spur the economy. The President one week says he sees deficits exceeding a Trillion dollars far into the future, and yet he says he is going to cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term. There is only one way to do that: Cut spending. The idea of raising taxes isn't going to work. Why? Tax revenues are going down. Sales tax revenues are going down (people aren't or can't buy), Income tax revenues are going down (more people are out of work), capital gains revenues are down because there aren't any capital gains, and corporate taxes are down because companies are not turning profits. So, raising taxes on people and companies that are losing money will have little if any effect.

A Global Warming update: Satellite sensors that are suppose to track arctic ice apparently need some calibrating. It appears the sensors have been tracking ice fields the size of California as open ocean. Do you think that might throw some melting ice calculations off?

Remember the bailout money the automakers requested from Congress not too long ago, something on the order of $25 Billion? Well, today General Motors and Chrysler submitted their plans about what they would do with the money if it was given to them. It turns out GM alone may need $30 Billion. And what's GM's big plan? Much of the taxpayer money would go to fund the healthcare and pensions of United Auto Workers. Here's the story.

Newly-appointed U.S. Senator Roland Burris of Illinois is suddenly recalling conservations he had with people close to former Illinois Governor Rod Blagoevich, people who were seeking campaign donations for the governor. What's surprising is that Sen. Burris said he wasn't given the opportunity to discuss those conversations during his testimony before the Illinois Impeachment panel that was looking into whether there was a "pay for play" deal between Burris and Blagoevich. Huh? Burris didn't think those conversations were relevant? Prosecutors are looking into who said what to whom, and when? What brought this to light is that at least one, maybe more, of those conversations were recorded by the FBI. An update 2/20/09: Illinois' new Governor is asking for Senator Burris's resignation.

Just when you think you're getting a sense of how bad the economic crisis is that we're facing, along comes another statistic that shows we're underestimating how bad it is. For example, this story from WorldNetDaily says our country's debt now exceeds the World's "Gross Domestic Product." This is a nightmare for fiscal conservatives. Our government has mortgaged our futures, the futures of our children, and grandchildren.

Apparently the Obama Administration's move to strip the Commerce Department of the responsibility of managing the 2010 Census was too much for Senator Judd Gregg and today he removed his name as nominee to be the next Commerce Secretary. What is going on at Commerce? This is the second nominee to withdraw his nomination. Earllier, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson withdrew his nomination.
