Although Ron Paul won't be the Republican nominee for President this year, his supporters remain committed to him and are fervently continuing to back him. It would be wise for the Republican Party hierarchy to stop disenfranchising these people.

There is little doubt the Main Stream Media is pulling for Barack Obama to be the next President of the United States. That became even more evident today when the New York Times rejected a letter that John McCain submitted in response to a letter that Obama had written last week. The reason the letter was rejected? It didn't contain anything new, according to the Times. Here's the letter Senator McCain submitted.

John McCain is engaging Barack Obama on Iraq. Here's the ad.

After Barack Obama has traveled throughout the country touting his policy towards Iraq, he has decided to travel to Iraq on a fact-finding mission and to meet with U.S. military commanders. It is astonishing that the Democratic nominee for President is going to get the facts after proclaiming his policies on an issue as important as Iraq. In another development, the three television news anchors for NBC, ABC, and CBS have decided they need to travel to Iraq also and accompany Senator Obama on his pilgrimage. Hopefully, they will all return enlightened and WILL REPORT the progress that has been made in Iraq. The only downside is that Senator Harry Reid isn't accompanying the group. We're now 15 months after he declared all is lost in Iraq. Seeing the progress in Iraq firsthand and apologizing for declaring defeat might restore some of his credibility.

Governor Pawlenty has declared a special election will be held to fill the District 16 State Senate seat being vacated by Betsy Wergin (R-Princeton). Senator Wergin resigned her senate seat after the Governor appointed her to the state's Public Utilities Commission. We wish Betsy the very best and thank her for her many years of dedicated service in the Minnesota Senate.

Say what? Pakistan is telling us we can't search for Osama bin Laden in that country? Should this tell us something? Remember a few years ago it was believed we had bin Laden pinned down in an area known as Tora Bora in northeast Afghanistan? Somehow he escaped after we turned the operation over to our "allies." Let's make sure that mistake doesn't happen again.

Cal Thomas in this commentary explains what Republicans must do if we are to regain majorities in the Minnesota Legislature and the Congress. There's much talk about the President's low approval ratings. What isn't getting enough attention is the even lower ratings of Congress. We need to shed some light on how poorly our Congress is performing.

Ladies and gentlemen, our country has been presented its first legitimate opportunity to begin drawing down our forces in Iraq. We must take advantage of it. The Iraqi government is telling our diplomats that they want us to begin withdrawing our forces. This should tell us several things, the most important being the Iraqis are believing they can be responsible for their own security. We've waited a long time and sacrificed much to achieve this moment. The tremendous progress occurring in Iraq is being under-reported in the U.S. media, and there's always the possibility that gains can be reversed, but we need to seize the moment and turn over as much as we can to the Iraqis.

What's your Global Warming Score? As if people in California don't have enough to worry about, a new law in the state requires people with new cars to post their Global Warming Score.
