There is a real effort underway to get Janeane Garofolo to attend the Dallas Tea Party scheduled to be held at the South Fork Ranch outside Dallas on July 4th. Here's the invite. Why the effort to get Ms. Garofolo to attend? She insulted every single person who attended tea parties back in April. The organizers of the Dallas event have concluded she's just stupid and needs to be educated. Stupid is a harsh word, how about she's just ill informed. No, stupid is more accurate.

There are reports today that the Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department forced the Bank of America CEO and Board of Directors to go through with purchasing Merrill Lynch last year, or face being fired. Most troubling, and actions that require serious investigation, are the reports that the federal government deliberately concealed losses at Merrill Lynch so that Bank of America would have less concerns about the deal. If true, these allegations are extraordinarily serious and people need to be held accountable.

Warren Buffett went on CNBC today and declared the U.S. economy is in shambles and there's no sign of recovery yet. This isn't really news, especially for the primary manufacturing areas around the country that have seen dramatic declines in economic activity. Why are Mr. Buffett's comments important? We are several months into the Obama Administration and billions of dollars have been spent and trillions more pledged to jump start the economy, but the result has been the opposite of what was projected to happen. Instead of shoring up the economy, the federal government has plunged the country deeper into debt. The staggering debt has weakened the dollar (severely), and in order for the Treasury Department to sell debt it has to offer higher interest rates. High interest rates slow the economy. We're in a vicious cycle that will only be broken when the federal government figures out it cannot spend more than it takes in.

Incredibly, Democratic Congressman Barney Frank is again calling for relaxing lending rules for people who can't afford mortgages. Congressman Frank has been given a pass by the MSM for his leading role in collapsing the U.S. housing market. Now he's at it again. Will the media hold him accountable at any point?

I hope everyone had a chance to attend the Little Falls Dam Festival yesterday. It was a beautiful day in central Minnesota and the setting for the festival in Maple Island Park could not have been better. Above are some photos from our entries in the parade and our festival booth.

It is foolishness to believe the federal government would constrain its sight on executive pay of companies that have accepted government (taxpayer) funds. Congress is now eyeing putting limits on everyone's pay, including the private sector. Here's the story...

Well this is just great. The new Chairman of the Board at "Government Motors" confessess he doesn't know anything about cars. Here's the story from Bloomberg. At some point Americans are going to get "fed" up with what's going on.

Here's an analysis of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's appearance in Evansville, Indiana last week. She walks the talk. It is an interesting comparison of her to other notable Republicans.

Chock up another one for liberty. . .curtailment that is. I'm talking about our new mandatory seatbelt law. Here's the story. It makes sense to wear seatbelts. I use them all the time, but is it the role of government to dictate that you will use them or face fines? The answer is no. The government should advise and educate about the benefits of seatbelt usage, but to mandate their use is intruding into the realm of individual liberty and freedom. It is a perfect example of expanding and intrusive government.

I haven't provided any updates for a few days, but this caught my attention today and something has to be said. Today President Obama lectured Congress to stop irresponsible spending. I couldn't believe it, but here's the story. Can you imagine someone with President Obama's record in his first 100 days lecturing anyone about irresponsible spending. Does he not know what he has done? Does he not know that he has exploded the federal budget? Does he not know that it will take decades to undo the damage he has done to our economy? It takes unmitigated gaul to tell others that they need to show fiscal responsibility when you, yourself, have shown zero ability to control government spending. Americans may have short attention spans but they can't be this short.
